I am a noise rock drummer/improviser currently living in Oakland, California. I have toured internationally and performed on 42 recordings. My most long standing musical project has been "The Molecules." Ron Anderson (guitarist & band leader) formed the group with Chris Millner (bassist) and myself in 1990. The Molecules have managed to make several tours of Europe, trips through the US, and traveled to Japan. The band has released 4 CDs on various labels and gone through two additional bass players, Ryo Fujiwara and John Shiurba. There is a fantastic new CD "Friends," which features the latest version of the band with John. The release includes the bonus DVD "Turn Up Your Hair" that documents live footage of the band from 1990-1997.
My other main musical project from 2000-2007 was the absurdist italian rock band "Spezza Rotto" with John Shiurba (guitarist), Eli Crews (bassist), Morgan Guberman (vocals), and myself. The Spezza Rotto CD "Tredici Canzoni" is now available.
From 1999 to 2002 I performed in local shows with the rock band "GrndNtl Brnds," which featured Dren McDonald of Giant Ant Farm (vocals and guitars), Kris Langan from Fibulator (vocals, guitar, bass), and Rick Weldon of Little My (vocals, guitar, bass & keyboards). GrndNtl Brnds finished our second CD "The Great Dumbening" on Vaccination Records in 2002 and promptly disbanded over legal and ethical issues.
Other Bay Area bands I have played in include Vacuum Tree Head, Moe!Kestra!, Rev.99, Pornorchestra, Kneel, Saint of Killers, John Shiurba's 5x5, Stritch, and Witches & Devils. During the last 17 years, I have performed local live improvisations with Bruce Ackley, Liz Albee, Myles Boisen, Steve Buchanan, Ralph Carney, George Cremaschi, Ernesto Diaz-Infante, Fred Frith, Carla Kihlstedt, Elliot Levin, Fred Longberg-Holm, 99 Hooker, Tokyo Nammy, Tom Nunn, Albert Ortega, Dan Plonsey, Gino Robair, Scott Rosenberg, Elliot Sharp, Tamio Shiraishi, John Shiurba, Dave Slusser, Moe Staiano and Jack Wright among others. While traveling I have also performed with Jac Berrocal, Shelly Hirsh, Marc Ribot, Tatsuya Yoshida, and Otomo Yoshihide.
